[Thomas rarely shows himself, but today he looks like it's something he's happy to be doing. He's fingering something that isn't very distinct in the shot, but from the way he's touching it, looks really delicate.] Is it just me, or is someone finding belongings that aren't theirs in their rooms that look like they've always been there?

[He pulls his eyes down to the item in his hand, a little baffled, but not worried about it.] This is even as dusty as everything else on my shelf. A long time ago, I had one of these. It was a present, from someone who was really important to me when we were in school, but when I moved, I threw it out.

Where are we getting these? [The shot heads down to some folded paper.]

[It's very rare to hear from Thomas. As it is, he normally doesn't say much, and ever since he's been here he's kept his head down, going to work every day and largely keeping to his own space, trying to avoid arguments or, at the worst case, the fights all the boys keep getting into. His warden's made him wonder about the answers to a few questions, though, and he wants to see if he's the only one with that perspective. So, have a carefully scripted question read out in tones like he's been preparing himself to speak for hours.]

You've tasted my food, but I don't think I've introduced myself to most of you yet. I'm Thomas, and I... to be honest, I haven't known what to make of this experience. I've heard so many different stories that I don't know what I'm really supposed to be doing here. What have you been told?

[The initial shot is a close-up of a dark-haired man in his late twenties with a freshly-washed face and an absolutely baffled expression. He's tapping nervously at the keys on his comm, and under the bottom of the feed runs what appears to be an American telephone number with a 509 area code. The feed runs up the side of his face to blackness as he waits in silence for about fifteen seconds, bouncing up and down.]

Carol, i-it's your brother. Your voicemail isn't picking up, but in case you get this... um... it didn't work and I can't remember how I got back home. If you get this, come home. If he wants you to come see him, don't.
